Starry Starry Night - Book Review

Starry Starry Night - Book Review  Starry Starry Night : Book Review Author : Nandita Basu  Publisher : Penguinsters “Does pain ever get better?  Nothing is static. Even pain evolves. There will be days it will hurt as it were only yesterday. And then there will be days you will not feel it. Like nothing ever happened. But yes, it gets better. Because you no longer reject it.” One of the most beautifully expressed emotion from the book Starry Starry Night . As someone who has lost her mother at an age where I needed her the most, I could feel myself speaking the same language as the main characters of the story. I literally immersed myself in the grief Kunal and his aunt Tara go through. Kunal, who has lost his mother, has to go and live with a distant aunt Tara until he finds a place in a hostel to live. Tara has lost her best friend Nysa. She runs a special music programme in the same school where Kunal is enrolled. Tara filled with grief, witnesses a figure who she refers as Death

Maithili And the Minotaur : Dolls of Despair  Author : C. G. Salamander Illustrations: Rajiv Eipe Welcome to the third wild ride of “ Maithili and the Minotaur: Dolls of Despair ”! This book is like a rollercoaster through a magical world with Maithili and her gang —Minotaur, Naagesh, Anjali, and Wolfhound. They’re on a mission to find Maithili’s mom, and things get crazier than a squirrel in a coffee shop. It all starts with Maithili’s dream featuring a kid on a hill and a creature with the same eyes as her dad’s killer. Maithili thinks she’s got extrasensory powers and can change the future.  While Maithili’s off in dreamland, Naagesh, Anjali, and Wolfhound speed ahead, leaving her and the Minotaur in the dust. They finally catch up at the Cave of a Thousand Eyes, which sounds like the perfect spot for an eye doctor’s convention, if you ask me. The thousand eyes illustrated are haunting yet mesmerising. Just when things seem to be looking up, Anjali tosses Maithili her mom’s box, and

Living with Adi - Book Review    Author - Zarin Virji Published by - Penguin Random House India  Living with Adi is a touching and insightful story about Adi, a ninth-grade boy who finds it hard to fit in and loves routines. The book gives a beautiful look into the life of a family dealing with challenges and changes, making it a great read from start to finish. Adi is a smart kid who loves reading about dangerous snakes, even though he’s scared of harmless house lizards. His classmates think he’s weird because he’s socially awkward, but he’s actually very curious and intelligent. The story shows Adi’s life at school and at home, giving us a peek into his unique world. Adi’s parents got divorced because they were unhappy together. Now, he lives with his mother, Delna, and his older sister, Jasmine. Even though his parents are separated, the family stays close. Following “How to Live Your Life,” Sir Ruskin Bond on his 90th birthday, presents another gem with “ Hold onto Your Dreams .” These letters are beautifully crafted, and I’m thoroughly enjoying this one, especially the personalized feel of the font that looks so handwritten.  This book is in the form of a letter and I would suggest you to be a recipient of this letter. It’s written straight from the heart and so as a reader when you are turning the pages, you just go with the flow.  As I was reading, the one person that I could think of was my grandfather in law. A man who was almost the same age and the wise words that he always spoke about, seemed to resemble with the theme of this letter. It felt like conversating with him after a long. We lost him last year.  The hard copy is so beautifully crafted with the wisdom quotes highlighted individually on a different page. Moreover even the illustrations are so thoughtfully put up.  This letter is a reminder for the young readers that maki
